Celta Vigo vs Espanyol
Spain – La Liga
Date: Sunday, 11 February 2018
Kick-Off at 17:30 UK
Venue: Estadio de Balaidos (Vigo).
Quique Sanchez Flores is facing a tough test, ahead of our Celta Vigo vs Espanyol preview and football odds, with the visitors’ form on the road in the Spanish top flight certainly not something to shout about in a positive way this season.
Celta Vigo have been in excellent form of late, despite a recent defeat on the road to Deportivo Alaves. Juan Carlos Unzue’s men have been exciting in attack and should pose a negative travelling outfit plenty of questions. Espanyol, meanwhile, are dreadful outside of Catalonia.
Our Celta Vigo vs Espanyol predictions are based off how poorly the away side travel, which makes going for a La Celeste win the only logical way to go in our La Liga predictions.
Espanyol will take some heart from the fact that they have been a real nuisance for Barcelona to deal with lately in the Copa del Rey and La Liga, but those positive results against the Blaugrana both came at Cornella.
Betting Tips and Predictions
Espanyol have picked up just one win over Celta de Vigo in the last six meetings. This solitary victory came at the RCDE Stadium, while the Catalan club have continuously struggled in their visits to the Balaidos – no wins in the last six. Despite the defeat against Deportivo Alaves, Celta de Vigo are my pick to win the game – primarily due to Espanyol’s poor away form. Iago Aspas and Gerard Moreno have been key players for Celta and Espanyol respectively. The former has four goals in eight La Liga appearances against Espanyol. In fact, he has been unable to score only twice in his last six games against this team. I would back Iago Aspas to score anytime.
Celta de Vigo win – 4/5
Iago Aspas to score anytime – 21/20
