Partick Thistle vs Celtic : Line-ups, preview & prediction Scotland Premiership Friday, 9th December, 2016.

Reason For Partick Thistle vs Celtic Betting Tips

Partick Thistle managed to avoid making it a quartet of defeats last weekend when they battled to a 1-1 draw at Hamilton Academical, but there are worrying signs for the hosts. They have only won two of their last 15 matches in all competitions, and whilst they have proven difficult to break down at times their lack of winning spirit is troublesome.

This failure to pick up points leaves them second from bottom in the Scottish Premiership, although the tightness at the lower end of the table means things can change quickly. An unlikely win on Saturday could see them move as high as 6th.

As mentioned, a win for Partick Thistle is unlikely. The progress Celtic have made this season has shown in the Champions League and was illustrated once again on Tuesday. They managed to secure a 1-1 draw at the Etihad, and although it still resulted in their Champions League elimination, their performances in Europe have been massively improved compared to the last few seasons.

This improvement isn’t limited to continental football though. They are already eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and have three games in hand on 2nd placed Rangers. With all their games in hand they could potentially end up 16 points clear of the nearest challenger.

Celtic did have a bit of a scare last weekend when Motherwell shockingly went 2-0 up in the first half, but Brendan Rodgers’ half time team talk obviously did the trick. They came back to win that match 4-3 to make it 11 domestic victories on the trot. They have won 12 of their 13 league games as well, so the signs aren’t looking good for Partick Thistle.

One of the key players in this dominating season has been young striker Moussa Dembele. The Frenchman has netted an impressive 15 goals in all competitions this season, with seven coming in the Premiership, five in the League Cup, and three more in the Champions League. At just 20 years old he has seen his stock increase dramatically in the last few months, and with Celtic top league scorer Scott Sinclair coming back from a minor injury Dembele looks the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.

Partick Thistle may have struggled to win this season, but they haven’t disgraced themselves in defeat. They have only lost by two goals in three of their 16 league games so far and just once at home. They haven’t lost by more than two goals at all this season. Celtic have only won by two or more goals in two of their seven away matches as well, so backing a Partick Thistle +2.0 Asian Handicap Win at 1.700 looks a good option. I’m going for a 2-1 win for Celtic at 13/2 as well.
