Reason For Hamilton Academical vs Dundee Betting Tips
Hamilton Academical managed to shockingly break out of their winless streak in midweek when a 6th minute opener was enough to earn them three points at home to Aberdeen. This ended a five match winless streak for the hosts, although the last three of those had ended all square to mark some sort of improvement.
They were expected to struggle this season, but they have actually shown a lot more promise than many thought they would. They have only lost three of their ten Premiership matches, and although they have only won two as well, they are at least proving difficult to beat.
Hamilton Academical are largely focusing on defensive organisation due to their lack of star men going forward. Their main striker, Alexandre D’Acol, has just two league goals this season, whilst their top scorer is defender Alistair Crawford with four to his name. None of these have come on home turf though, whilst D’Acol has netted twice in his five home appearances. Backing the Brazilian striker to find the net against the awful Dundee could prove to be a good move.
Dundee’s 2-0 loss at home to Partick Thistle on Wednesday made it six defeats on the bounce for the struggling club. Their cross-city rivals were relegated from the top flight last season, and at the moment they look to be heading in the same direction.
Their last victory was a 3-1 win over Ross County on the opening day of the Premiership season, and since then they have lost seven and drawn three of their league games to put them rock bottom of the table after 11 matches.
In terms of goal-scoring threat away from home they almost solely rely on striker Rory Loy, with the Scottish forward having all three of his league goals coming on the road. Only two other players have found the net for the visitors, so if you’re wanting to back a Dundee scorer he is the obvious choice.
In all honesty this is Hamilton Academical’s match to lose. The visitors have looked abject recently and the hosts will have gained a lot of confidence from their shock win over Aberdeen in midweek. Odds of 5/4 for a Hamilton Academical win look massively overpriced considering Dundee’s form, so I’m going for that along with a 2-1 correct score prediction at 8/1.
