Rosenborg vs BATE Borisov
Champions League Qualification
Date: Wednesday, 31 July 2019
Kick-off at 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: Lerkendal Stadion (Trondheim).
Rosenborg
This is a simple season for Rosenborg in general, but they haven't played badly recently. They had a weak start at the Norwegian championship when they piled up behind the leading team created. Molde had nine more points, although Rosenborg had a three-game winning streak before a brief break in the championship. In the last seven rounds Rosenborg won six matches and that's why we said they were in good shape, but they were defeated in Belarus. Previously they got rid of Linfield in the first round without problems. Compared to the first match against the Belarusian champions, we hope that Helland returns to the starting line-up.
Positions that might be Rosenborg: Hansen - Hedenstad, Hovland, Reginiussen, Meling - Lundemo, Konradsen, Jensen - Helland, de Lanlay, Soderlund
BATE Borisov
Belarusian champions have a one-goal advantage before the rematch, even though they received the goal at home and that could be a problem. However, it is important that they have an advantage because they cannot be expected to solve all the dilemmas in the first leg. Even realistic to win and that is why they should not be disappointed with the results. Bate Borisov did much better at the Belarusian championship that hosts them where they have lost only two matches so far. The last time they lost was in early July and at the moment they occupy second place in the table and play one match less than the leader. Manager Baga will most likely
send to the same team as in the first leg.
Possible composition of players BATE Borisov: Chichkan - Rios, Simovic, Volkov, Filipovic - Yablonski, Baga, Dragun - Milic, Stashevich, Skavysh
Rosenborg vs BATE Preview of Borisov's match
This match was perfectly balanced because of the rules of away goals and we supported BATE Borisov to turn their first leg advantage into one place in the Champions League third qualifying round.
Last week, we estimated BATE would lead one goal with them to Norway, but in fact 2-1 rather than 1-0 we imagined giving Rosenborg a lot of hope that they could overcome their deficits.
Igor Stasevich gave BATE an early lead from the penalty spot and after Anders Konradsen made sure his score was balanced at the break, Maksim Skavysh won that night for Belarus.
It always seemed to be one of the most suitable ties in this round and nothing had changed in that regard, while the two teams were given a weekend break in their domestic league to give them the best preparation for the second leg.
Rosenborg will be compelled that they have won five of their last six matches on their own pitch, scored three or more goals on those four occasions, and other wins here will be enough to make them escape.
However, BATE were equally impressive on their way, winning five of their last six on the road and drawing others, including a 2-1 win at Polish champions Piast Gliwice in the previous round, and they might be able to thwart Rosenborg's hopes of resistance.
