TEAM NEWS
URUGUAY
Uruguay are unbeaten with two wins and a draw from their three matches as they finish top of Group C in front of Chile, Japan and Ecuador.
They had secured qualification before the match against Chile, but appeared to be finishing in second place until the final winning goal from Edinson Cavani gave them a 1-0 win and top spot in the group.
Dangerous forward attackers Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez will be a real handful for the Peruvian defense, they both look in good shape during the tournament so far and have been weighed with two goals each.
PERU
Peru qualified for the quarter-finals as the third-best team after finishing behind Brazil and Venezuela in Group A.
They drew 0-0 with Venezuela and defeated Bolivia 3-1 in their opening two matches but comprehensively lost and lost 5-0 to Brazil in their final match in the group stage.
They were forced without striker Jefferson Farfan after he missed the rest of the Copa America tournament due to an injury to his left knee. Edinson Flores can enter the team in forced reshuffle.
Head To Head
As mentioned, the last meeting between the two countries brought a 2-1 victory for Peru in March 2017.
Uruguay beat Peru 2-0 in the 2011 Copa America semi-final, with Luis Suarez scoring twice for the team which then beat Paraguay in the final.
Overall, the two South American countries have locked themselves on 66 previous occasions, with Uruguay leading a head-to-head match 37 wins to 16 Peru, with 13 matches remaining finishing all square.
Peru's last record in the competition must be respected but it is difficult to see past Uruguay because of their quality in the final third. We want the 2011 winners to book their place in the semi-finals with regular wins.
