Inter Milan vs Genoa : Preview and Prediction Italian Serie A at Sunday, 24th September 2017

Reason For Inter Milan vs Genoa Betting Tips

Inter Milan’s perfect start to the season came to an end when they met Bologna on Tuesday. However, that poor display hasn’t dented them too much. Inter are still looking like contenders for a top four finish this season, especially given how easily they dealt with sides in ther four opening victories. It feels like the Nerazzurri can kick things up a gear still, but will we see that this weekend?

Inter are heavy favourites to see off a woeful Genoa side. This team took one point away to the top 13 sides in Serie A last season. Their awful form has seen them draw at Sassuolo and lose to Udinese, and we see another loss for the Rossoblu this Sunday. Genoa are being widely linked with a relegation fight this season, and their form makes them seem nailed on for the drop.

Inter have little to worry about here, especially having won three of their first four without conceding. They were caught out by a wonder goal from Bologna in midweek, but they showed resolve to get back in the game in the second half. The Nerazzurri should have too much for Genoa at home, especially as they’ve triumphed over stronger Grifone sides in recent years. Inter have won eight of their last nine at home to Genoa, and they’re set to add to that magnificent run on Sunday.

Not only are Genoa losing games, but they’re failing to score goals. They’ve failed to score in six of their last seven away trips in Serie A, largely due to a lack of options up front. Pietro Pellegri has been drafted in as a starter at 16-years-old after showing some class, but that’s not good for the Grifone in the short term, as they travel here needing results soon in order to beat the drop.

Inter have a great chance to add to their strong start with a win here, while Genoa lost to nil in 53% of their away trips last term. That includes five of their trips to the top seven, so we think Inter Milan to win to nil is excellent value at 11/10 with bet365. We’re also backing a 2-0 win for the hosts this weekend, which is available at 11/2 with bet365.

Inter Preview

Inter Milan have been in fine form this season, winning four and drawing one of their first five games. The season couldn't have started much better for Inter, beating Fiorentina, Roma, SPAL and Crotone comfortably to leave them top of the table. However, a blip away to Bologna during the week has seen them slip down to third. Inter will feel lucky to have picked up a point away to Bologna after going behind to a Verdi got in the first half. It took until the 77th minute for Inter Milan to get back in the game thanks to a calmly slotted penalty from Icardi. They pilled the pressure on for the last 10 minutes but were unable to break down the stubborn defence of Bologna. A response will be wanted this week, and on paper, this should be another win for the home side.

Inter Team News

Inter Milan have just the one out this weekend with Joao Cancelo still recovering from his Medial Collateral Ligament injury. He is expected to be back in action at the beginning of next month.

Genoa Preview

Genoa had a decent start to the season, getting a point away to Sassuolo. However, it just got worse and worse from there with three straight defeats to Juventus, Udinese and Lazio which left them on just one point after four games. They were able to make it two on Tuesday after drawing at home to Chievo but will be disappointed to have not taken all three points after going in front with 30 minutes to go. A win is desperately needed to get Genoa's season going, but with Inter Milan on the horizon, I can't see it being this weekend. The worrying thing for me is where the goals are going to come from for this side. With no well-known Serie A striker, I think they will struggle this season.

Genoa Team News

Genoa have four sidelined this weekend with Goran Pandev (muscle injury), Nicolas Federico Spolli (unknown), Gianluca Lapadula (knee injury) and Armando Izzo (suspension) all out.
