Venue: Cluj Arena.

Romania’s hope to qualifying for the World Cup next summer took another blow at the weekend, although it was a rather expected one. They lost 3-1 in Poland to make it five games without a win, leaving them 4th in their World Cup qualifying group and four points adrift of both 2nd and 3rd place. Poland are flying high at the top of the group with a ten point advantage on Romania after Saturday’s result.

A defeat away to Poland isn’t exactly something to worry about for a team of Romania’s stature, but they haven’t lived up to the billing so far this campaign. They have failed to beat Denmark and Montenegro on home soil and played out a goalless draw away to Kazakhstan.

This, along with defeats to Poland twice and Russia leave them with one win, three draws, and three defeats in their seven games since their Euro 2016 exit. At home they have won just two of their last nine matches.

For Chile this is a great chance for them to warm up ahead of their Confederations Cup campaign, which begins next week. They drew away to Russia on Friday in their first friendly, and with matches against Cameroon, Germany, and Australia coming up they will want to get back to winning matches.

Prior to that draw with Russia they had won six, drawn three, and lost three of their 12 games since they lifted the Copa America trophy for the second consecutive time, so they are definitely a side to be feared.

Away from home things are a little more difficult for them though. Chile have won just one of their last six away games, losing three times and drawing the remaining two. Romania, whilst struggling terrible for wins, have only lost two of their last nine at home, drawing over half of them.

This, along with Chile’s poor away form, makes odds of 23/10 for a Draw look good value for money, so that’s what we’re going for along with a 1-1 correct score predictions at 5/1.

Romania vs Chile: Prediction

It will be super hard for Daum to find the way to motivate his players after a defeat in Poland.

The hosts have been in a disastrous form in the final third having netted only a single goal in last five matches and we don’t see them as a threat to Chile this Tuesday.
