Milan has been slowly ascending the Italian top flight table in recent rounds, being undefeated in five of their last six outings.

The team is currently in the third spot in the overall standings, tied on points with second-place team Roma but has a lesser goal differential. They are only four points behind current league leaders and defending champions Juventus.

Gianluca Lapadula, who was filling-in for regular starting striker Carlos Bacca, netted a brace to lead manager Vincenzo Montella's squad over the hard-fighting Azzurri side.
