18th placed Nancy have attained some positive results following the international break and Pablo Correa’s side will try and move out of the Ligue 1 relegation zone on Wednesday evening when they square off with 11th placed Metz at Stade Marcel Picot.
Nancy backed up a 1-0 home victory against Dijon on match day 13 with a solid 0-0 draw away to Montpellier at the weekend and they are now level on points with 17th placed Nantes heading into this midweek clash.
With Les Canaris unlikely to find a win in their game at home to Lyon, a victory here for Nancy would see them climb out of the bottom three and the bookmakers rate Correa’s men odds-on to do just that.
However, the 10/11 about a Nancy win seems a little short considering opponents Metz beat Toulouse when last on the road and have the 5th best away record in Ligue 1 so far this season with 10 points gained from seven matches.
A 3-3 home draw with bottom side Lorient at the weekend will be viewed by many as a step back in the wrong direction by Les Grenats however they were 1-3 down in that game and fought back valiantly with a brace from Thibaut Vion.
And whilst their performance from a defensive perspective was pretty awful, they’ve only conceded six goals on their travels so it’s easy to assume they may have less to worry about against a Nancy side that have managed to score just five goals in seven matches at Stade Marcel Picot.
Conversely, Metz have a meagre tally of 16 goals across their 14 Ligue 1 games in 2016/17 so with Nancy holding out for two clean sheets in their last two, Wednesday’s fixture could well be a cagey affair.
With that in mind, and the fact the teams drew both of their clashes in Ligue 2 last season, the draw looks the best bet here at 5/2.
And with Metz top scorer Mevlut Erdinc unlikely to start following a recent injury, we fancy a 0-0 stalemate at higher than average odds of 15/2 with goals likely to be at a premium.
Head To Head
The sides drew both of their Ligue 2 fixtures last season - 0-0 at Stade Symphorien and 2-2 at Stade Marcel Picot.
Nancy vs Metz Stats
Metz have the 5th best away record in Ligue 1 with 10 points accrued from seven games and look capable of taking a point despite the hosts recent improvement.
Nancy Team News
Nancy boss Pablo Correa has a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of Wednesday's game. He's unlikely to make too many changes to the team which has collected four points from the last two games but may start Anthony Koura up front alongside Christophe Mandanne to give the hosts a greater attacking threat.
Metz Team News
Top scorer Mevlut Erdinc may not be passed fit to start so Thibaut Vion, who scored a brace against Lorient at the weekend, could start up front. There are no new injury concerns for the visitors ahead of their trip to Stade Marcel Picot.
