Reason For Borussia Monchengladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Tips
Borussia Monchengladbach have been struggling both domestically and also at the European level so far this season. The “German Team” did find their first win in the Champions League with a 2-0 win away to Celtic last Wednesday, but they are still in need of a boost in the Bundesliga. Gladbach have taken just one point from their last three Bundesliga matches – a 4-0 thrashing away to Schalke, a frustrating 0-0 draw at home to Hamburg, and a boring 2-0 defeat against Bayern Munich last time out means they are also without a goal in three. Coach Andre Schubert will no doubt be looking to bounce his side back to form here with the help of their impeccable record at Borussia-Park.
Eintracht Frankfurt are on the road for a second time in a row this Friday. Last Saturday’s 3-0 win in Hamburg brought Eintracht back to winning ways – the first time they’ve taken three points in four matches. Last weekend’s win combined with their equally impressive 2-2 draw at home to Bayern Munich in the match prior means Frankfurt are enjoying their joint best ever start to a new Bundesliga season. Frankfurt should be confident in their ability to give M’gladbach a decent fight here.
Borussia M’gladbach come into this match as the bookies’ favourite at 5/6. There are plenty of reasons we fancy the hosts here, despite Frankfurt’s promising performances over the past weeks: Gladbach’s home form is remarkable – Borussia M’gladbach have won all but three of their last 19 Bundesliga home matches (W16 D2 L1) – and they have a really strong track record against Frankfurt – Borussia M’gladbach have won 8 of the last 11 against them (W8 D1 L2). M’gladbach were also the hardest team for Frankfurt to play against last season, suffering an 8-1 aggregate defeat over both home and away legs.
However, though the goal market offers shorter odds, we feel that’s the safer bet here because of M’gladbach’s recent “deflation” and Frankfurt’s ability to produce “shock” results. Goals are an inevitability when M’gladbach play at home and over 2.5 goals were scored in 9 of M’gladbach’s 12 home matches (75%) in 2016. Also, over 2.5 goals were scored in the last four meetings between M’gladbach and Frankfurt at BORUSSIA-Park – both teams scored in three of these. As such, over 2.5 goals is our choice bet and still decent value at 7/10.
Gladbach have averaged 2.66 goals per game at home in 2016. Meanwhile, Frankfurt have failed to score in 8 of their 12 matches on the road in 2016, though they have scored 5 goals in their last three (1.66 goals per game). With Borussia M’gladbach conceding exactly one in four of their last five home wins, we feel a correct score bet of M’gladbach to win 3-1 at 12/1 also seems a decent shout.
Borussia Monchengladbach
Borussia Monchengladbach are still struggling at the mid-table and are without Bundesliga victory for three straight matches. They lost against Schalke 04 and Bayern Munich and drew against Hamburger, but even worrying thing is that they failed to score a single goal in each of those last three matches.
However, Borussia Monchengladbach showed an improved performance during midweek and managed a confidence-boosting 2-0 victory over Vfb Stuttgart in the DFB Cup. Many of their players looked tired in that game, as they played games in the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Cup in the last couple of weeks. Midfielders Lars Stindl, Tobias Strobl and Christopher Kramer all complained to minor injuries, so some changes in the line-up are possible.
Despite their recent negative results, Borussia Monchengladbach are still one of the strongest home sides in the Bundesliga in the last couple of seasons. Last time they lost a home match was back in January 2016, and since then they recorded ten wins and just one draw. This season they won at home against Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen and Ingolstadt, and played a disappointing goalless draw against the bottom side of Hamburger SV.
Eintracht Frankfurt
Eintracht Frankfurt achieved a very easy 0-3 away win against Hamburger SV last weekend and ended their negative run of three straight winless games in the Bundesliga. During midweek they also played in the DFB Cup, but it took them long 120 minutes of play and a penalty shootout to eliminate Ingolstadt. They do not have much time to recover for this game, so they also might experiment with their starting line-up.
Eintracht Frankfurt are more than satisfied with the achieved so far, as they have a much better record than at the same time last season. They lost just twice in their eight games this season and sit comfortable in the upper part of the table. Last season they were very weak away side, but they were not that bad on the road so far. They managed two away clean sheet victories against Ingolstadt and Hamburger SV, and two defeats against SV Darmstadt 98 and SC Freiburg.
Mexican midfielder Marco Fabian provided two goal assists in the last week`s victory against Hamburger SV, and currently he is the best player in the team with three goals scored and four goal assists. During midweek he was sent off in the cup match against Ingolstadt, but he is eligible to play in this game.
