Rotherham vs Nottingham Forest
England – League Championship
Date: Wednesday, 14 September 2016,
Kick-Off: 19:45 UK
Venue: New York Stadium, Rotherham.

  Rotherham Team Preview
Rotherham haven’t had the best start to the campaign, but they’ve been more effective here at home picking up all their points in front of their own fans.

Alan Stubbs has started to adapt to English football, but it’s always a difficult job at Rotherham given the lack of resources compared to some of the other Championship big hitters.

They managed to secure a 2-2 draw at the weekend, but it probably feels like a defeat considering they led until late on.

Izzy Brown has looked very lively since joining from Chelsea and opened the scoring. A comedy own goal from Aden Flint put them 2 up and all was looking rosy.

They were completely dominated though as Bristol City had 35 shots during the 90 minutes. They were desperate for a way back into the game and Rotherham’s defence collapsed in the second half. It ended 2-2 and it’s disappointing for the home side not to grab their second win of the season, but on the balance of play they could easily have lost it.

The aforementioned Brown came off injured during Saturday’s game and could be a doubt here along with Jon Taylor, who could join Lee Frecklington on the sidelines.

There is a worrying lack of goals in the home side and they’ve only scored 5 this season in 7 outings. All of them have been at home.

Some fans chose to boo after the game, but it’s still early in the season and Stubbs should get plenty of time to add consistency to their game. The boss has said he has broad shoulders and can take the heckling and asked disgruntled supporters to air their frustrations in his direction rather than that of the
players.

With an away game to come, they’ll need to get something from this match.

Nottingham Forest Team Preview
Forest also drew 2-2 this weekend, but it was a different story for the tricky trees who came back from 2-1 down at Aston Villa to take a valuable point back to the East Midlands.

Phillipe Montanier has certainly improved Forest and made them one of the best sides to watch in the division. Contrast that to the dour football served up by Dougie Freedman and there’s a lot more for the fans to shout about.

Unfortunately for Forest fans, he hasn’t found his best formation and his best backline. Forest continue to leak goals and despite the additions of Thomas Lam and Damien Perquis, they haven’t been able to keep a clean sheet this season.

They’ve been in the news recently for signing Nicklas Bendtner. The former Arsenal man is back in English football after a questionable few years and he could be a key signing for the club if he knuckles down. With Britt Assombalonga struggling to put any sort of run of games together, he could help lead the line. It’ll be interesting to see if Montantier is tempted to play them both together this season.

Hildeberto Pereira picked up a red card against Villa and serves his suspension here whilst Matty Cash will be assessed ahead of this fixture.

Forest have scored the second highest amount of goals this season with 13 strikes thus far, only Barnsley can boast more. They’ve also conceded the joint second highest in the division with only tonight’s opposition proving more generous at the back.

Apostos Vellios got his first goal for Forest at the weekend, describing it as ‘very special’ and he’ll be hoping to add to it here.
