RB Leipzig are still unbeaten this season, recording two wins and three draws in their opening five Bundesliga matches. Both of their last two matches against Borussia Monchengladbach and Koln ended in identical 1-1 draws. They started their last match against Koln really well, scored in the opening five minutes of the match, but conceded right before half-time.
RB Leipzig have been a really strong home side in the last couple of years. They won thirteen times and drawn three games from those seventeen home matches.
RB Leipzig have faced twice Augsburg before, and both games were in the German DFB Cup competition. Augsburg won both matches with 0-1 in 2011 and 0-2 in 2013.
For his match RB Leipzig will be without their midfielder Emil Forsberg and defender Lukas Klostermann, both out injured.
Augsburg
Augsburg showed some mixed performances in their opening five games of the season. They won twice, lost twice and drew once so far. However, they improved a bit in the last couple of weeks. First they managed to hold Bayer Leverkusen to a goalless draw and then they defeated SV Darmstadt 98 with 1-0 last week. Icelandic striker Alfred Finnbogason scored his first goal of the season last week, and last season he was leading Augsburg`s attack with seven goals in fourteen matches.
Augsburg`s away form has been pretty good in the recent months. They remained unbeaten in each of their last five away games, and lost just once in their last eight away matches. Not only that, but they also scored at least two goals in five of their last seven away matches in the Bundesliga.
For this match Augsburg will be without their Brazilian midfielder Caiuby through injury, while their midfielder Dominik Kohr struggles with a minor knock and is doubtful for selection.
The Betting Verdict
RB Leipzig showed much better performances than Augsburg so far and they have been really dominant at home. On the other side, Augsburg showed some good away performances recently, but their squad lacks depth and they will most likely finish in the lower part of the table this season. Considering current forms and motivation, I would go with backing the hosts RB Leipzig to win this match at good odds.
