Motherwell vs Hearts - Predictions, Betting Tips, Preview Scotland Premiership

Reason For Betting Tips

Motherwell enjoyed a very good season in the Scottish Premiership last year as they finished in 5th position, well above their relegation playoff position the season before. However, the start of this season indicates that they could well be back in a decline.

They managed to win three of their four Scottish League Cup group matches, only losing against the newly promoted Rangers. They then beat Kilmarnock 2-1 in their league opener, but a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Celtic has sent them into a downward spiral.

They lost to St Johnstone and Rangers in their next two matches and then only managed draws against Dundee and Ross County. Motherwell finally got another win under their belt when they beat Hamilton Academical 4-2, but last weekend saw them drop another two points in a 1-1 draw with Partick Thistle. They still sit in a respectable 5th position, but they will need to start winning more matches at some point this season unless they want to start a fall from grace.

Hearts have also shown a decrease in performance from last season. They started last year in blistering fashion as they returned to the top flight with a bang, keeping pace with Aberdeen and Celtic for the opening couple of months before dropping off the boil and finishing in a comfortable 3rd.

This season began with a Europa League exit at the hands of Birkirkara, and a 2-1 loss at home to Celtic was followed by a 3-2 defeat at St Johnstonet to send them out of the Scottish League Cup early on. A goalless draw with Aberdeen meant that they remained winless.

Hearts finally managed to get off the mark with a 5-1 thrashing of Inverness CT and then beat Partick Thistle and Hamilton Academical as they looked to get back towards the right end of the table. However, they have since lost to St Johnstone and drawn with Ross County.

The visitors are still 3rd in the table, but their recent two results suggest that a return to their start of season form could be on it’s way. An away match isn’t the best way to try and remedy this either. Hearts have only won one of their last six on the road, and stretching back into last season they have failed to win 11 of their last 15 away days in the league.

Motherwell might not be in the best of form but they have only lost one of their four home matches this season in the league, and considering Hearts’ relatively poor form at the moment, I think odds of 19/20 for a Motherwell Win or Draw Double Chance at good value for money. I’m going for a 1-1 correct score prediction at 11/2 as well.
