Liverpool vs Manchester City
England – Community Shield
Date: Sunday, 4 August 2019
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: Wembley Stadium (London).
Team News
Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus have just returned to the club. Raheem Sterling can start from a central position. Rodri is expected to start following the signing earlier this summer.
Sadio Mane will not appear for Liverpool after his international commitments in the summer. Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are expected to appear. Naby Keita must start in midfield.
Decision
Even though the Community Shield should not be seen as something more than a glorified pre-season friendly match to start the season, both
teams will want to win. This will set the starting mark and provide a mental boost for the winners, with both teams expected to challenge the league title for the second season in a row. Manchester City may have won three domestic trophies, but Liverpool won in the Champions League and that will add additional seasoning to the competition given that the Manchester club never picked it up. This must be an entertaining game with goals for both parties. The score draw seems to be a good bet, with Liverpool winning on penalties.
Manchester City 2-2 Liverpool
