Lokomotiv Moscow vs Sheriff
UEFA Europa League
Date: 2nd November 2017
Kick off at 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: RZD Arena (Moscow)
Given the start that they’ve made to life in Group F, Lokomotiv might have been a bit disappointed with their draw away in Moldova last time out; however, a point away from home is never a bad result in Europe. Back in front of a home crowd, Yuri Semin’s team will fancy their chances of getting a second victory of the campaign, one that would put them in a really commanding position with two to play. They’re currently outside of the coveted top two in the group, but, as they sit on three points, all is not lost for Sherriff. The Moldavan side have certainly not been easy to beat, another positive result here would put them in a more than reasonable position.
Lokomotiv may have failed to beat Sheriff from home, but it would be somewhat disappointing if they failed to do so in front of a home crowd. Not only are the Russian outfit a different proposition on home soil, but the visitors generally don’t travel very well in Europe. ‘Lokomotiv -1.5’ is the bet that stands out.
On home soil, Yuri Semin’s side have made a habit of winning, and winning well. Each of their last three home victories have been by two goals or more. During that time they’ve scored eight and have conceded none. A 3-0 win over Zlin, a game in which the Railroaders dominated from start to finish, in their last home UEL match is a particularly encouraging result. With this in mind, ‘Lokomotiv to Score Over 2.5 Goals’ also catches the eye.
The main problem for Sheriff on the road in this competition has always been goals. The Moldovan side – having notched just two goals in their last five travelling Europa League matches – simply do not score enough goals away from home. Against a Lokomotiv side who’re anything but short of goals on home soil, such a lack of forward potency is a big problem for the visiting side.
The visitors may have got a positive result on home soil, and, thanks to their useful home form, may still make a fist of qualifying for the knockouts, but a lack of goals on the road is why they’re fancied to come significantly short against a Russian side who’re strong on their own patch.

The first ever head to head encounter between the two sides saw them sharing the spoils as Ziguy Badibanga annulled Anton Miranchuk’s goal to set the final score in the first half.
