Real Madrid vs Leganes
Spanish La Liga 2016/17
Date: Sunday, 6th November 2016,
Kick-Off at 11:00 UK
Venue: Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid.
Real Madrid is the only remaining undefeated team in the Spanish top flight after 10 rounds of competitions. The team is currently sitting on top of the league table, two points clear off arch-rivals FC Barcelona and taking care of a three-game winning streak.
Los Blancos routed another newly-promoted club Alaves, 4-1, in their match last Saturday on the road at the Mendizorrotza Stadium, as per The Sun.
Three-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo unleashed a hat trick to lead head coach Zinedine Zidane's crew in the lopsided victory.
Alaves scored the opening goal in the seventh minute with a surprising strike from Brazilian forward Deyverson. However, it proved to be the only goal of the hosts throughout the game.
Ronaldo began his scoring with a successful penalty kick in the 17th minute to equalize the count. He then grabbed the lead for Real with a booming 25-yard shot in the 33rd minute.
Alvaro Morata then made it a 3-1 game as he scored in the 84th before Ronaldo netted his third of the match with only two minutes left before full-time.
Meanwhile, Leganes dropped its third consecutive game with a 0-2 loss to Real Sociedad at their home ground of Butarque Stadium on Oct. 28, the Business Standard reported.
Willian Jose and Xabi Prieto provided the goals for Sociedad in the 29th and 59th minutes while head coach Asier Garitano's side were shutout for the second straight contest.
With the loss, Leganes has further dropped to the 16th place in the overall standings, only one point above the bottom three relegation zone.
Key Facts
Real Madrid currently enjoys a 10 league games unbeaten run this season, and the Blancos have failed to taste defeat in 25 straight competitive games. Real Madrid has recorded 3 wins in their first 5 home league games played so far this season.
Leganes are currently on a 3 match losing streak. The Pepineros failed to complement their electrifying start into the season after registering 2 wins in their last 8 league games. However, Leganes away form is something we should applaud. The newly promoted side has 3 wins in their first 5 away league games this season.
Real Madrid vs Leganes: Head to Head
These two sides will be meeting each other for the first time in 12 years. Real Madrid and Leganes last met during the 2004/2005 Copa Del Rey competition and the Blancos won the clash with a 2-1 score line.
Moreover, both sides have only met twice in the 21 century and Real were victorious on both occasions.
Real Madrid vs Leganes: Prediction
Real Madrid are scoring goals for fun at the moment. They netted a whopping 14 goals in the last three matches in all competitions. And they are the only unbeaten side in the Spanish La Liga after 10 match weeks. For the newly promoted Leganes, it will be a hard fight to keep the defeat at a respectable margin.
On the base of Madrid’s brilliant scoring form, it would be a good choice to back them on a -1 goals handicap to win the first half.
