Cagliari vs Udinese
2016/17 Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 27 November 2016
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Sant’Elia (Cagliari).
One point – and one place – divides Cagliari from Udinese as the two mid-table sides prepare to lock horns at the Stadio Sant’Elia this Sunday.
The Rossoblu generally don’t have problems scoring, but they also have problems keeping their opponents from finding the back of the net. Some of the highest scoring games overall? Cagliari have featured in them. Who can forget that eight-goal thriller against Fiorentina that saw the Viola manage to edge them out 5-3? Out of their past five games, three have seen at least five goals scored between both sides.
Unfortunately, Cagliari were the losing side in those games as well. 5-3 against Fiorentina was followed by a 4-1 drubbing by Lazio and then a 5-1 humiliation at the hands of Torino. They also will come into this game having lost 1-0 to Chievo, so are on a two-game losing streak. In fact, they have only won one out of their past five matches.
Meanwhile, Udinese saw their four match unbeaten streak come to an end as they were unable to make the grade against Napoli. The Zebrette will naturally be disappointed with that result, but will have a good chance to make some amends here. They have slowly started to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three, but will still be wary as another run of bad results could see them sucked right back into that unwanted relegation battle.
However, although their defense is not as bad as Cagliari’s, it’s still less than air-tight and could cause some problems for the Zebrette as they aim to rebound after a set-back from their most recent game.
