Overview
Manchester United ended their three-match losing streak against Northampton Town in the third round of the League Cup. They registered a 3-1 victory over the League One side, with Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford scoring the goals for the Red Devils.
Jose Mourinho started Wayne Rooney as the main striker and the England international failed to impress, which saw him extend his poor run this term. It is likely that he would be dropped for the clash against the Foxes on Saturday.
United will be looking for nothing less than a win as the last time they played at Old Trafford they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the derby clash on 10 September. A victory over the Premier League winners will be crucial for Mourinho and his men.
Leicester, on the other hand, suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the League Cup tie. Despite taking the lead, Claudio Ranieri saw his side fail to progress further in the competition as they lost the fixture in extra time.
So far, Leicester have played two away fixtures in the Premier League and on both occasions, they have suffered defeats. The Italian manager will be looking to avoid that when his side face United.
The two sides have met earlier in the season during the Community Shield. It was United who came out victorious as the match ended 2-1 in the Red Devils' favour, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring the winner for his side.
What managers say
Jose Mourinho: "We had a bad week. I know that the world is full of Einsteins, I know that they tried to delete 16 years of my career, they tried to delete an unbelievable history of Manchester United football club and to focus on a bad week with three bad results. But that's the new football, it's full of Einsteins."
Claudio Ranieri:
"He's a fantastic manager, clever, intelligent. Every manager has a big job to do. He's a fantastic person and I wish him all the best. After Saturday, of course. When you change a coach, players, you need to work hard to complete your idea with the new players. When you play against these big teams, you don't have an advantage. They beat us in the Community Shield and we want revenge."
