Bordeaux have had a shocking season as far as their concerned. They are a huge club in France yet are currently occupying a disappointing 12th position in Ligue 1. There are only ten points adrift of a top four spot, but it’s unlikely that they will make much ground up on this.
They definitely won’t match last season’s points tally either, with them lagging 20 points behind their total from last term with just 15 points left to play for.
Bordeaux did enjoy a resurgence back in winter, with them going unbeaten in 11 games after enduring a poor start to the campaign. They have slumped again now though, and they come into this match having won just one of their last seven in Ligue 1.
Angers are polar opposites to Bordeaux. They were promoted last season after finishing 3rd in Ligue 1, but nearing the end of the Ligue 1 season and they find themselves in genuine contention for a European qualification spot.
They sit in 8th position with 46 points from their 33 games so far, and they are only five points adrift of 5th place and only nine off 2nd placed Lyon.
This is an astonishingly
good season for them, and despite going through a bit of a slump recently they have started to recover. Angers are unbeaten in three games coming into this match and have only lost one of their last six outings. This includes an away victory at Troyes recently.
Bordeaux aren’t looking much better on home turf either. They are winless in five matches at home and have failed to beat the likes of Gazelec Ajaccio, Bastia, and Nantes. All teams who are below Angers at the moment.
This makes odds of 10/11 for an Angers Win or Draw Double Chance look incredibly good value, and I’m backing that along with a 1-1 draw at 11/2.

Just last April Angers won this fixture fairly comfortably with a 3-1 victory. Of the five recent matches played between the two, three of those have been 0-0 at half time. Apart from that the two sides have rarely met one another.

Bordeaux have been impressive in recent weeks despatching the likes of Nantes and Lyon. Angers have just been themselves, lively but unspectacular, you have to give the travelling fans a lot of respect they always make noise wherever they go. Bordeaux have some great attacking options in the shape of Diego Rolan, Jeremy Menez and Malcom the 19 year old Brazilian midfielder has got off to a superb start. But everything just seems too perfect, Bordeaux to win 3 games in a row doesn’t sound like the team we know and we should be a little cautious even if Bordeaux are the favourites to win at the weekend.
