Liverpool vs Arsenal
Premier League
Date: 4th March 2017
Kick off at 17:30 UK/ 18:30 CET
Venue: Anfield.
Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening, the reverse fixture of the opening day of the Premier League campaign.
When the sides last met back in August, Liverpool won 4-3 in one of the matches of the season.
Arsenal fans will point to the number of absentees their side had that day, including the likes of Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil – who should all be available on Saturday.
Arsene Wenger’s side have not played since their FA Cup tie at Gander Green Lane nearly two weeks ago. Goals from Theo Walcott and Lucas Perez handed Arsenal a 2-0 win over non-league opponents Sutton United.
With Arsenal handed a bye over the weekend, Liverpool were presented with a great opportunity to overtake the Gunners in the table when they played managerless Leicester City on Monday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s side squandered that opportunity, losing 3-1 at the King Power Stadium. Philippe Coutinho scored a consolation goal in the second half.
Neither side comes into the match in particularly great form. Arsenal have won three and lost three of their last six matches while Liverpool have just two wins in their last 12 matches in all competitions.
Despite that, Liverpool’s recent 2-0 win over Spurs should serve as a reminder to Arsenal that the Reds tend to up their game against the big teams.
Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp has had a roller-coaster season with Liverpool. The Reds have opened the campaign in a super strong fashion, but as the time passed by they lost touch with Chelsea in the battle for the first position and even the top four positions are heavily challenged after a poor series of results.
Klopp’s lads seemed to have gotten back on track with the important home win over Spurs, but they returned to the old habits with the poor display at King Power.
Arsenal
Arsenal don’t have any better campaign as Arsene Wenger holds on to his favourite fourth position. The team has been lacking the consistency for the last couple of years and nothing seems to be changing as the years go.
The Gunners will come in the game after a hard-fought 0-2 win over Sutton United in FA Cup. The painful 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich is still something their fans remember and the team will be desperate to pick up the good result at Anfield.
Liverpool vs Arsenal: Head to head
Last two head to head matches offered a real drama. The one from the first part of the season ended in a 3-4 win for the Reds who have been enjoying a terrific form back in August last year. Coutinho, Mane and Lallana were on target for Klopp’s side.
The last game at Anfield, however, ended in a 3-3 draw in January last year. Six of the last seven meetings between the two sides have seen the option of both teams netting and at least three goals.
Liverpool vs Arsenal: Prediction
Liverpool are 1/1 favourites to claim the victory which is something we would not agree with after the horrific performance they showed against the reigning champions.
Anyhow, both teams have been quite easy to break down lately and we can easily see a goal fest this Saturday. The top options for anytime goalscorers would certainly be Mane for Liverpool (11 goals so far in the season) and Alexis for Arsenal (17 goals).
Liverpool vs Arsenal: Bet Tips
Over 2.5 goals FT & BTTS is the top betting pick at the odds of 1/1.
Alexis Sanchez is a decent value to score anytime at 13/8.
