Nacional vs Sporting CP Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews Portugal Primeira

Reason For Nacional vs Sporting Lisbon Betting Tips

Nacional’s rather disappointing start to the domestic season continued on Tuesday as Pacos de Ferreira thrashed them 4-0 to send them packing from the Taca de Portugal. This came after a 1-1 draw against the same opponents last Friday and makes it six defeats, one draw, and three wins in all competitions for them.

This places them slightly below their finishing position from last season in 14th position, but there is a real worry about their lack of goals at the moment. They have only managed eight goals in their eight Primeira Liga games so far and have scored just three in their four home games in all competitions, and one of those was an own goal.

Nacional fans will be justifiably worried about their goal-scoring potential here then. They have failed to score against Sporting CP in five of their last six meetings with them, and the fact that they have conceded eight goals in their four home games this season means their chances of a clean sheet are very low indeed.

Sporting CP aren’t in the greatest of form at the moment, with a 1-1 draw at home to Tondela making it two games without a win after their defeat to Borussia Dortmund last week.

However, they are still one of the top sides in this division and will be a huge challenge for Nacional. They have won five of their eight Primeira Liga games so far and averaged over two goals per game.

With striker Lukas Spalvis sidelined until January with a knee injury, the onus has fallen on Bas Dost to find the goals. He has netted four times in the league this season, but none of their players have scored more than a single away goal this term. Dost is still the main threat for them though, so odds of 21/20 for him to score anytime look decent value for money.

Sporting CP may not be in the greatest of form, but they shouldn’t have many issues against Nacional on Friday. The hosts are struggling massively to find goals, and considering the past history between these sides, I think odds of 5/4 for Sporting CP to Win to Nil are good value for money. I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 11/2 as well.
